Testing as a Service (TaaS) offers a flexible model for automated payment testing, allowing organizations to run tests remotely without the complexity of managing hardware and software in-house. Customers may either own or rent the hardware, while PaytestLab operates, maintains, and supports it within our own facilities. This means you no longer need to worry about maintaining robots, calibrating equipment, or managing downtime. Our team ensures everything is properly maintained and can also assist in writing automated test cases. With this setup, you simply log into PaytestHub, our cloud-based payment test management platform, and run your tests remotely on the terminals we host for you.
As part of TaaS, you can also choose a fully managed service model, where our team handles end-to-end test orchestration, writing test cases, running tests, and providing detailed feedback. This can include regression testing and automated EMV Level 3 certifications, where we run the certification as a service for you using your terminal. In this blog, however, we focus on hosting your equipment in our offices and enabling you to test it remotely from your own environment.
What Testing as a Service Includes
TaaS covers the full payment testing lifecycle, giving you access to a controlled, automated environment without managing the infrastructure yourself. TaaS supports a wide range of use cases, from functional testing and stress testing to EMV Level 3 certification, and ongoing test execution on behalf of the customer. With your terminals hosted in our lab, you can execute a wide range of tests remotely through PaytestHub, such as regression testing to validate software updates and firmware releases, functional and stress testing to ensure terminal stability under real-world transaction loads, or EMV Level 3 certification testing in a fully managed and compliant environment.
Our hosted environments are equipped with PaytestRobot, PaytestMux, PaytestProbe, and PaytestOCR, allowing you to automate physical terminal QA testing, manage card selections, and orchestrate test execution seamlessly through our cloud-based payment test management platform. Tests can be triggered remotely by your team or executed fully by ours, with detailed reporting available directly in PaytestHub. PaytestLab not only hosts and maintains the setup but also ensures centralized test execution and detailed reporting, so you can trust every test outcome.
Getting Started with Testing as a Service
The onboarding process is simple and efficient. Together, we define the testing equipment required based on your objectives and your terminal. This includes the supporting hardware, and any integration with a gateway/processor, ECR, or any payment interface needed for your solution. Once agreed upon, you provide the equipment that you want us to test (i.e POS, Terminal, PINPad etc.), and we begin configuration in our lab in Slovenia.
Setup usually takes about a week, with another two weeks to write and customize test cases if needed. Once your environment is ready, you can log in remotely to PaytestHub to execute and monitor your tests from anywhere.
Our team handles all maintenance, calibration, and updates, ensuring your setup remains reliable and ready at all times. If new firmware or configurations are needed, we handle them directly in our lab to minimize downtime.
Customer requirements for ongoing terminal management are minimal; we simply need access to your terminal management system and have the ability to update firmware remotely. If this isn’t possible, we can securely handle updates on your behalf.
Delivering Reliability, Scale, and Expertise
TaaS provides QA teams with a scalable, cloud EMV test solution to validate payment software QA without operational overhead. Because your test environment is hosted and managed by PaytestLab, you no longer need to worry about equipment maintenance, calibration, or hardware failures. Downtime is minimized, and faulty hardware is replaced immediately to keep your testing on schedule.
Every environment is continuously monitored and maintained to ensure optimal performance and compliance with EMVCo L3 testing standards. With our hosted approach, teams gain consistent access to up-to-date infrastructure and can run tests around the clock without waiting for manual setup or lab availability.
You also gain access to PaytestLab’s deep testing expertise. Our engineers assist in writing and maintaining test cases, support payment software QA, and help accelerate automated EMV testing for faster certification and release cycles. In addition, PaytestLab provides automation consulting services to help customers transition from manual to payment device automation with minimal disruption, ensuring that every team can scale efficiently and confidently.
TaaS environments are designed for flexibility, allowing you to scale from one to multiple terminals or PaytestRobots as your needs grow, all orchestrated through PaytestHub. This model is especially valuable for distributed or hybrid teams, enabling engineers across regions to collaborate in real time and execute concurrent terminal control, regression test for payments, functionality, or certification tests in a shared cloud-based environment. The result is faster feedback, higher accuracy, and a unified testing process that keeps development moving forward smoothly.
Future Proofing Payment Testing Through Testing as a Service
As payment systems become increasingly complex, agility, reliability, and scalability have become essential for maintaining a competitive advantage. TaaS provides a modern way for QA teams to adapt quickly to new requirements, whether preparing for certification, validating firmware updates, or running full regression test cycles. With your testing hosted by PaytestLab, you gain a controlled, secure, and continuously maintained environment that’s always ready when you are.
By removing the need for hardware management, TaaS enables teams to focus on what matters most: flawless transaction validation, faster releases, and high-quality payment testing solutions. It helps organizations maintain compliance, optimize resource use, and keep pace with evolving payment standards without the delays or risks of manual setups.
For businesses that value speed and reliability, hosted testing isn’t just a convenience; it’s a competitive advantage.
